The festive season is all about fun, summer and holidays! Is your wardrobe ready for all the different occasions you’ll be attending and are you well prepared for any invites that will be heading your way… stress not! We have the perfect fashion DIY tips for you.
Before you start sprucing up your wardrobe, check out our stores here.
First let’s talk about maintenance… the better you look after your clothes the longer they will last. A clever way of saving money on the dry cleaners each month is this: Try using shaving foam to remove make-up stains off your clothes. After this application, you can then wash the clothing.
So you bought a gorgeous pair of heels or pumps for that wedding you are attending but the shoes are too tight, ouch! Here is a quick DIY to help you, widen your shoes by filling them with water. Crazy as it sounds, this nifty trick works! Simply place a bag of water inside your shoes and put them in the freezer overnight. They will expand and fit perfectly!
Another quick fashion DIY we love is reinventing your denim. A quick paint or ripping can give life to any pair of jeans. As we know, jeans are one of those durable wardrobe items so it is fun to try re-vamp them. This summer, the perfect fashion piece to own is a pair of jean shorts. If you have an old denim you wish to re-use, then this will be perfect!
But before you run for the scissors, read this!
Firstly, use a chalk to mark your desired length. Having made the marks along the inseam, connect the two marks on each side of the leg with chalk. Perhaps you can use a ruler for help.
To make sure both legs are symmetrical, measure the length from the inseam and from the waistline to help you pinpoint where you should mark on the opposite leg.
Go on and cut along the chalked line with fabric scissors and proceed to tease out loose denim fibres with your finger. Lastly, brush sandpaper along to edge to create a frayed hem and voila!
