Winter tips from Rosebank Mall
Health and Beauty Jul 20, 2020
It’s lockdown and winter, and it’s totally understandable if you feel like munching delicious snacks and soul food during this season, but as we mention, it’s only a season, and this too shall pass and then it’s spring again, and soon summer. And we all know how we’re in denial over our food choices during winter because we want to look good in summer.
Although it’s important to take in all the nutrients and minerals we possibly can during winter to boost our immune systems, it’s also wise to partner our food choices with exercises and appropriate dressing. Yes, it’s not what you want to be thinking of right now, but better safe than sorry. We also know that gyms and other exercising activity clubs are out of the question, but you can easily fall back into your exercise routine at home and with minimal equipment.
First, a mental shift is needed to embrace the cold. It’s invigorating to get outside, especially with a change of pace when being indoors all the time. Don’t blow your budget on fancy new equipment, but at least invest in new wear to help your confidence. Proper workout clothes could motivate you to face the cold. Set time aside during your day that’s specifically allocated to training, especially when you’re experiencing the winter blues. Usually, early mornings or late afternoons are best, and you’ll quickly realise how manageable this is.
Obviously, none of this makes sense if you’re not working towards a goal. Setting a goal will keep you driven, and weekly objectives could help you attain that specific goal. Whether it’s losing centimetres or improving your pace, you won’t be able to perform if you’re not sure what you’re working towards. It’s also recommended to reward yourself when you’ve reached your objects such as spoiling yourself with a new pair of boots or a quality handbag.
We’ve all got very comfortable in getting used to wearing pyjamas throughout the day, and slowly but surely we’re heading back to a new normal where we probably have to dress the way we used to before. But we sort of fell in love with baggy outfits and having to unlearn it could make you dislike the idea, and that’s okay. Fashion designers are incorporating this new behaviour into their fashion ranges anyways.
No matter your style or preference, the principal fact stands that you need to dress appropriately for your body’s temperature. When you feel too hot or too cold, functionality becomes a problem. That’s why you need to check weather forecasts and plan your attire the night before for the following day.
We’re not suggesting to spend a fortune on winter fashion but invest at least in quality items you can wear interchangeably with your daily outfits such as comfortable leather boots that’ll last you for a couple of seasons. Maybe a couple of coats in natural colours and different types to add a unique style to each of your outfits. Several scarves to add as accessories and to provide extra warmth, or a pair of quality gloves (especially if you’re making use of public transport).
We hope that the tips above will help you through a favourable winter. If you’re interested in purchasing any of the abovementioned items, click here to view Rosebank Mall’s stores and choose your preferred retailer.
